My First Meal at the Newly-Reopened Sea Fresh

Friday evening at Sea Fresh Sea Food was hoppin'! Seems like they're using the outdoor seating on the right (as you face the building) as cocktails and waiting for inside tables, whereas the left-hand outdoor area is actual dining. Even so, the wait was not long even for 4 adults and 3 children.

The new inside tables are much longer than the former ones, and our large group fit quite comfortably, even though our delightful server, Shaw, had to reach further and more often than she seemed comfortable with.

Distinctly missing from the interior walls, although the new ocean- and fish-themed artwork is very nice, is the large open-mouthed Great White Shark that was my 4-year-old's favorite thing about the place. I'm hoping it's in the fish market or near the sushi bar or something, and we just missed it.

While I was bummed that NONE of the local wines are offered by the glass, the house Cabernet Sauvignon was plenty good for my only moderately sophisticated palate. The "Boat of Bullets" appetizer is a favorite standby of mine: jalapeño halves with albacore and cream cheese inside, with a citrus dipping sauce. When the peppers are spicy, the cream cheese and sauce are perfect compliments and cool-downs, but tonight the peppers were extremely mild - even sweet - and the sauce especially almost put it over the top. Delicious, to be clear, but not the spice I was anticipating. The Red Dragon sushi roll - albacore, avocado, sprouts - was VERY good, especially in the wasabi-soysauce that I unintentionally mixed a little too hot. :)

My wife stuck with her usual Macadamia Crusted Halibut (although it's currently substituted with Sea Bass, which we can only hope is ill-tempered) with Thai peanut sauce, which is always spectacular. We had an order of their fried zucchini with Parmesan and ranch dressing, too. The kids shared a grilled cheese sandwich that they didn't finish, which I ate later that night. Yum yum!
